Jason is a specialist in the firm’s planning and environmental practices. He advises public and private sector clients on a wide range of matters including planning applications, oral hearings and planning appeals, Environmental Impact Assessment (‘EIA’) and Strategic Environmental Assessment, environmental licensing and permitting, planning matters relating to establishments under the Seveso II Directive, Special Areas of Conservation and Natural Heritage Areas, environmental liability, and the application of the Planning & Development (Strategic Infrastructure) Act 2006 and its implementing Regulations.
He also works in the area of regulatory compliance and enforcement, commercial litigation and judicial review. He has advised on alleged fraud with respect to a planning application. He has also advised on environmental and planning matters in High Court commercial proceedings relating to the granting of aquaculture and foreshore licences, and on judicial review proceedings of certain planning decisions.
Jason graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1998 with an Honours Degree in Natural Science, before going on to complete a Master’s Degree in Environmental law at Brunel University, London. He then worked for six years as an environmental consultant advising on contaminated land assessment and remediation, EIA for major engineering projects, and general planning and environmental matters for roads and infrastructure projects.
He holds a diploma in EIA management from University College Dublin, a diploma in public relations from the Public Relations Institute of Ireland, and a diploma in finance law from the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland.
Having trained with a large Dublin firm, he joined Philip Lee Solicitors in 2009. He is a member of the Irish Environmental Law Association and the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association.
